A Day in the Life of a Fancy Dress Shop

This is Karla. Today I started my 3rd week at Haveaballoon. I’m starting to get familiar the the working of the shop and can now cover various duties without supervision. Today I prepared a balloon job for the 21st and served cutomers returning costumes. I am feeling more confident with the workings of the till and I’m enjoying developing my shop skills

Already my last day work experience! I’m sure I don’t know where the time has gone. I’ve loved my time here though. I’ve learnt lots of new things, like making dogs out of balloons to working the till to making personalized banners. The people here are also lovely, and i really appreciate them taking the time to accommodate for me. Thank you!

I had a brilliant time yesterday. A costume rep came and talked about their new stock, which i found very interesting, and then i got shown where everything was. As on monday they get a lot of returns, i helped sort and clean some of them. I really like the variety of wings they offer, i think they’re really pretty, and the masquarade style masks. I lke the colours and the feathers. The rosario one is my favourite. I also learnt how to use the ribbon printing machine, and printed a personalised banner which you can order off the website here.

Today Monday 2nd August I started my work experience at Haveaballoon. I am very impressed by the amount of stock they have, there’s so much colour and interesting things to look at everywhere in the shop! I am especially impressed with the Cavewoman costumes that come in various styles and sizes The staff are very friendly as well, so it looks to be a good week!

Today we covered the vast arragment of shoes focusing on the procedure from hire to cleaning to re stocking. Here at haveaballoon the range of sizes, colour and style caters for most customers requiremts wether is dainty Dorthy red shoes or size 11 lady man shoes. Every one steps out in style

Hi my name is Karla, I’ve just joined Haveaballoon & Costume the Party store for a 6 week introduction into the world of retail. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to see the real workings of a sucsessful party store. Monday the 19th July was my 1st day. My focus for this day was to learn about the vast range for wigs that we have for sale; also I had my first experience of serving cutomers. This was an challenging tast but very rewarding achiving the result of fitting them out with 1980’s outfits. Carn’t wait for tomorrow.

Customer requested a Sumo Wrestler costume, we did’nt have one in the shop. I explained to her that we do next day delivery on the web site. She went away with the web address so she could order a Sumo Wrestler costume to be delivered in time for her party

We have a good selction of Animal Costumes on the site, yet we do get caught out every once in a while. A lady needed a centipeid costume for her 6 year old. I can do that I said, take a pair of these green tights, take the top off this robin hood costume, Wait a minute while I spray these silver 1980’s boppers copper; and here is some green fabric; cut out little feet from this and attach to the costume. We like to be creative and helpfull in the shop especiall when it comes to creating Animal Costumes
